DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, "American Watch Co" grade, 21J, model 1872, heavy 18K original AWCo HC with gold cuvette, SW-LS, glass enamel SSD with distinctive Old English AWCo signature characteristic to this grade, fully capped lever escapement, 21J, decorative "gold dome" around balance jewel setting, ornate quilted pattern NI damascene, s#1448962. Gross weight of assembled watch 81.1 dwt (126.0 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, excellent mvt condition overall, plates with good color and luster, winding wheels with some oxide, some MFS on plate surfaces with the most notable of these being at the perimeter between the winding wheels, small marring to escape setting, losses of blackening to lettering; dial is very close to perfect with only two tiny nicks to lower right rim of the center hole; case shows medium wear, typical MFS with greatest profusion to upper front, mild dent to lower front lid, few small dings to front lid, ET largely lost with partial visibility in areas of rear and only minimal traces remaining on front; tight bow, crown shows medium wear with ridge break; good glass crystal.
